Amy Scott

I am a Resident in Counseling within the state of Virginia. As a holistic clinician, I evaluate each component of the human body to achieve optimal function and complete wellness. With an undergraduate degree in Biopsychology focusing on sleep disorders, I advanced my education by obtaining Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Cybersecurity. My professional experience includes working in Polysomnography laboratories, where I provided sleep-disorder testing and treatment. Additionally, I have experience in adult case management, direct patient care for physical and mental health disorders, and administration for a women's non-profit Pregnancy Help Center. I have also worked at a culturally diverse dual diagnosis treatment center in Hawaii and currently offer telehealth services in my private practice.

My therapeutic approach incorporates a variety of modalities, including Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapies,Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, MotivationalInterviewing, Narrative Therapy, Christian Perspective Therapy (upon request),Grief Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology–informed approaches, Somatic Experiencing, Biofeedback, Strength-Based Therapy, Spiritual Integration Counseling, Dream Analysis, andSolution-Focused Counseling. When personality disorders are a concern, I refer clients to Clinical Psychologists for specialized care.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening,decorating, Latin dancing, walking my dogs Mishka and River, traveling theworld, and experimenting with new ethnic dishes on the weekends.
